Methylene Blue (5mg)
Cellular Energy & Cognition

Methylene blue is a small synthetic dye molecule with a unique mitochondrial mechanism — at low doses it acts as an alternative electron carrier in the electron transport chain, bypassing damaged complex I/III steps and restoring ATP output where mitochondrial function is impaired. Researched outcomes include enhanced cellular respiration, improved cognitive function, anti-amyloid effects in Alzheimer models, and antimicrobial / antiviral activity. Long clinical history — originally synthesised in 1876, used in malaria, methemoglobinemia and surgical staining — gives it one of the best-characterised safety profiles in the energy/longevity category at appropriate doses. The 5mg capsules are ideal for daily low-dose stacking and cognitive support, while the 20mg capsules suit higher-dose protocols. Standard daily dosing range: 0.5–4mg/kg.

Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled fMRI trial in healthy adults: a single oral dose of low-dose methylene blue increased fMRI response in the bilateral insular cortex during a sustained-attention task and improved memory retrieval — direct human neuroimaging evidence of pro-cognitive effects.

Usage Note
Methylene Blue is a mild MAO inhibitor. Persistent use at higher doses can increase the risk of serotonin sensitivity, especially when combined with SSRIs or other serotonergic compounds. Many users prefer an as-needed protocol — for example every other day, or only on days requiring extra energy and focus — to minimize cumulative risk.
