Tesamorelin is a 44-amino-acid GHRH analog specifically researched for visceral adipose tissue (VAT) reduction. The branded medicine Egrifta is FDA-approved for excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy; this approval does not apply to VCP research products. In phase-3 trials, daily Tesamorelin reduced VAT by ~15–18% over 26 weeks versus placebo, with concurrent reduction in liver fat and no adverse effect on fasting glucose. It works by stimulating natural pulsatile GH release from the pituitary — preserving negative feedback — while preferentially mobilising deep abdominal fat rather than subcutaneous fat. The primary component of the Cutting stack (paired with Ipamorelin). Dosed nightly via SubQ injection. Typically run in 12–26 week cycles. Available as 5mg, 10mg and 20mg vials. Prohibited in sport by WADA at all times.

    Dosage

Start 1mg nightly; after 1 week double to 2mg nightly (2mg/day is the licensed trial dose)

    Duration of effect

Daily dosing; benefits build over weeks (plasma half-life: ~26-38 minutes)

Phase 3 randomised placebo-controlled trial in HIV-associated lipodystrophy: Tesamorelin produced a 15% reduction in visceral adipose tissue at 26 weeks without affecting subcutaneous fat — establishing the GHRH-analogue's selective visceral fat-loss profile.
